Credits range from independent films to television commercials and syndicated shows. I work in pop, rock, americana and classical styles, and can write pieces to fit your project. Below are samples and quotes.
“You are amazing! I can’t believe you got this done so quickly” – Sarah Beth Wiley, Project Manager and Graphic Arts Designer, The Boston Group
“Thanks for your beautiful work… at such short notice” – Steve Ellis, Aurotone (UK)
“Steve understood A Curated World’s personality and how the brand needed to be presented. He quickly composed several pieces of music that used alone or mixed could compliment any of our video footage. When edited into our videos Steve’s music is not forced on you, rather it effortlessly teases out the emotion I wanted to evoke.” – Kay McGowan, A Curated World
“You are a great musician. I am making great mixes and stems out of [your cues]. Thanks for doing such great work!” –Michael Bizar, LA commercial music composer
“Your stuff sounds great! [Food Network] gave me the task of hunting down music for [a new] show, and of course I thought of you.” –Jason Rhein, Elephant Quilt Productions

It’s hard to believe 2013 is more than half over! I’ve had an exciting year so far. Big news for me is – I had a kid! My son Rocco Edward Mayone was born March 14th. My wife Suzanne and I are overjoyed to have him join our little tribe.
In music related news, I’ve been busy producing music for TV shows. I was lucky to hook up with someone in LA who’s already an established composer for such TV shows as Duck Dynasty, Auction Hunters and The Price is Right. He’s been mentoring me in the business of commercial music, and I have learned a ton from him!
My newest album – Beautiful Blood by The Cousins Project (me and my cousin Kristina Stykos) was released at the beginning of the year, and has been garnering amazing reviews from the US and UK. Andy Snipper of Music-News.com (UK) says “A delightful collaboration and well worth some very serious investigation.” while Lonesome Highway says “The playing is excellent and the mix of guitar, mandolin, fiddle and banjo can make for a heady cocktail on some of the song arrangements. Highly recommended.”
In other album news, I’ll be a part of an album to be released near the end of this year by a group called Mando Mania! yes, that’s a right – a band that only plays Mandolins. It features Jimmy Ryan, Aaron Goff and Dave Westner, and It’s gonna be a good one.
On top of all that, the Huffington Post called me a “brilliant musician”. Break out the champagne!
Thank you for supporting independent music! Please go to my Bandcamp page to listen all my albums, and also check out Beautiful Blood at Kristina’s Bandcamp page (She’s also released a fantastic new album this year, Wyoming Territory)
Two events I’m very proud to be a part of: the first was at the Bearsville Theater on May 18th performing with Kate Taylor and alongside Amy Helm, Larry Campbell, Jerry Marotta and Donald Fagan to benefit the Woodstock Day School. The second will be at Club Passim on June 4th, performing songs by Levon Helm and The Band to benefit the American Cancer Society!
2012 is turning out to be a banner year for Steve Mayone. Splitting his time between Brooklyn and Boston, he’s been immersing himself in songwriting and performing. In the works are 2 new collections of songs: a collaborative acoustic album with his talented cousin Kristina Stykos, and his 5th yet-to-be-titled solo album. Steve’s also been scoring music for film and TV: his song I’ll Be Alright is appearing in the movie Dark Rising 2, and he scored the webisodes for Kay McGowan’s A Curated World. In addition to this, he has been posting videos of his originals and duets with Kristin Plater on his YouTube page, as well as playing live solo shows and as a support musician for Kate Taylor and Bow Thayer, whose new album features Steve and was recorded with Levon Helm’s engineer/producer drummer Justin Guip. Keep checking back for more news!
